Jet2 has brought forward the departure of flights operating between the UK and Italy today to avoid strike action by airport workers.

Meanwhile easyJet is warning passengers that today’s national strike in Italy could cause delays and some disruption to its flights.

The strike is due to take place from 1pm to 5pm and will affect ground handling service across all airports in Italy.

To avoid the strike, Jet2 has changed the time of today’s flights between Manchester and Naples.

Its departing LS947 flight from Manchester and its return flight LS948 from Naples will leave one hour earlier than scheduled, leaving at 7.15am and 12.15am respectively.

Other Jet2 flights are operating normally, but the airline is warning customers that there will not be as many staff as usual at airports, including at passport control, immigration and boarding gates. Passengers will be informed of any further changes, it said.

EasyJet said the strike could affect ‘critical areas in the airport’, adding: “We expect that there may be delays and some disruption due to the industrial action, therefore we advise all customers to check the status of their flight on our Flight Tracker, either on our mobile app or website: www.easyjet.com/en/flight-tracker

“Although this situation is outside of our control, we would like to apologise to any affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.”

EasyJet said customers would be informed directly of any changes by SMS or email.
