Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks have brought forward the 2025 launch of their programme to Porto from Manchester Airport to this summer.

CEO Steve Heapy said the decision had been prompted by ‘phenomenal demand’, which led the operator to ‘act quickly’ to bring the schedule forward.

In November, Jet2 announced the launch of flights and city breaks to Portugal’s second-biggest city from summer 2025 from two UK airports – Birmingham and Manchester.

The programme from Manchester will now launch on 4 July 2024, with flights and packages available to book now.

Flights will operate twice a week, on Thursday and Saturday, until 3 November this year.

The early launch of flights and city breaks to Porto for summer 2024 brings the total number of destinations from Manchester to 59.

Yesterday, Jet2 revealed it is hiking capacity from Manchester to several destinations this summer, including Lanzarote, Crete and Kos.

Steve Heapy said: “Since announcing the launch of the brand-new city destination of Porto, we have experienced phenomenal demand. We always listen to what our customers and independent travel agent partners are telling us, so we have acted quickly to bring forward the launch of Porto by a whole year, meaning flights and city breaks to Porto are now available from Manchester Airport for summer 24.

“As the largest operator of European city breaks this expands our programme are even further, and we know this news will be a huge hit with customers looking to travel to this superb city.”

The launch of the Birmingham-Porto route will start in 2025 as planned.
