Jet2 says July and August ‘experienced strong late booking momentum’, with September currently showing a similar trend.

In a statement ahead of its Annual General Meeting, the group said package holiday customers are up 8%, representing 70% of total departing passengers, with flight-only up 17%.

The late bookings have helped Jet2 improve its average load factor, which is now 1.2 percentage points behind the same period in summer 2023. By contrast, on 11 July this year, load factor was 1.8ppts behind.

Summer 2024 seat capacity is 12% higher than last year, at 17.17 million seats, and a slight increase on the figure reported in Jet2’s preliminary results on 11 July.

Jet2 said: “The continued demand momentum has served to offset softer flight-only net ticket yields, although package holiday pricing remains resilient and continues to show a modest increase on last year.”

Jet2 described forward bookings for winter 2024/5 as ‘encouraging’, with average load factor 0.8ppts ahead of winter 2023/24 at the same point, against a 15% seat capacity increase to 5.14m seats.

“The package holiday mix is currently up by 1.9ppts with pricing at this early stage showing a modest increase for both our holiday products,” Jet 2 added.

Seat capacity for summer 2025 is up 6.4% and average load factor is slightly ahead of summer 2024 at the same point.

Jet2’s next update will be at its interim results on 21 November.
