Jet2 confirmed today that its flights and holiday programme to Sicily will resume on 4 August, despite the outbreak of wildfires in the north of the island.
Its flights were temporarily suspended due to fire damage to Catania Airport, in the east, just over a week ago.
Catania Airport reopened last Wednesday, but with only limited operations.
Fires have since broken out further north, in and around the capital of Palermo, forcing the temporary closure of Palermo Airport on Tuesday.
The airport has since re-opened.
A Jet2 spokesperson said that, currently, it is planning to resume flying to Catania on 4 August and holidays to Sicily will go ahead.
