JetBlue has announced it is axing more than 50 routes in the US.

The airline said it will focus on building its leisure network on the US east coast, boosting services from New York, Boston and Florida as well as Puerto Rico.

It was confirmed last month that JetBlue had reached a deal with British Airways for the UK carrier to sell seats on its flights to 75 cities from New York and Boston.

Under the codeshare arrangement, JetBlue, which is suspending its transatlantic flights into London Gatwick this winter while maintaining its services to Heathrow, will sell seats on BA’s flights to European destinations.

In announcing a better-than-expected second quarter net income of $25million yesterday, JetBlue also revealed it was delaying the delivery of 44 Airbus aircraft till 2030 and beyond.
