The Latin American Travel Association (LATA) has launched its inaugural Responsible Tourism Awards.

The awards, which will take place on day one of LATA Expo in June, will champion travel companies who have put sustainable and ethical practices in place across Latin America.

There are six categories open for entry:

  • Making Travel Inclusive
  • Championing Cultural Diversity
  • Nature Positive
  • Combating Climate Change
  • Increasing Local Sourcing – Creating Shared Value
  • Employing and Upskilling Local Communities

LATA Head of Sustainability Megan Parkinson said: “Through showcasing the travel experts who are championing ethical initiatives, we are not only recognising their fantastic work, but also, providing key examples from which both LATA members and non-members can look to for reference when establishing responsible tourism practices.”

This year’s LATA Expo takes on a new format and will be a fully hosted residential conference, taking place at the Beaumont Estate, Windsor from 24-26 June.

The winners of the LATA Responsible Tourism Awards 2024 will be automatically entered into the Sabre Global World Responsible Tourism Awards. The awards are open for entry via the website and submissions close at 6pm on 10 May.
