A flight heading to London Heathrow turned back to Delhi after a passenger became unruly.

Air India said the passenger ‘caused physical harm’ to two members of the cabin crew.

Some reports claimed the passenger had pulled their hair and when the assaults continued, despite written and verbal warnings, the pilot decided to turn the aircraft around.

The flight, which had taken off from Indira Gandhi International Airport at 6:35 am on Monday, landed back at 9:40 am.

The passenger was removed from the flight and the incident was reported to police.

The flight, which had 225 passengers onboard, was rescheduled for Monday afternoon.

In a statement released to Deccan Herald, Air India said: “Safety, security and dignity of all on board are important to us at Air India. We are providing all possible support to the affected crew members. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers.”
