Manchester-based operator ceases trading as ATOL holder

A company that specialised in organising trips to Mecca for more than 21 years has ceased trading as an ATOL holder.

The Civil Aviation Authority said Manchester-based Haji Tours had ceased trading as an ATOL holder on 16 October, meaning it can no longer sell its own packages.

Founded in November 2012, it was licensed to carry 500 passengers this year.

It specialised in offering Hajj and Ramadan packages, both off-the-shelf and tailormade. Its website, which is still live, says: “Haji Tours is an established Hajj and Umrah travel agent with a primary focus on a one-to-one personalised service that’s based on quality, trust and realistic expectations.”

According to its registration with Companies House, Haji Tours had one director, Mohammad Arif. A second director, Ifat Arif, resigned in July.

In a message on its website, the CAA said: “We are currently collating information from the company and will update this page as soon as possible. Whilst waiting for further information, please do not submit a claim as these will be rejected.”
