Colleagues of the mum of Bebe King, the youngest of three little girls fatally stabbed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, have helped raise more than £30,000 for her family.

Six-year-old Bebe’s mum works for a tour operator and is well-known in the travel industry, having previously worked for a number of travel agency chains.

Her employer said it had put in place ‘strong support measures’ for her colleagues, as well as circulating links to a Gofundme page set up by friends and family members.

A company spokesperson said: “As you can imagine we are all devastated and upset by the news and we’re putting in strong support measures for our teams.

“There are a few fundraising links in circulation and we have shared the one organised by friends of the family for anyone who wishes to make a donation.”

The spokesperson said the company will look to engage with any charities or causes Bebe’s mum wishes to support in due course.

They added: “Our main priority right now is supporting [Bebe’s mum] and her family in any way we can, and we are deliberately following the police lead to respect the privacy of the families and not disclose their identities.”

The operator also asked not to be named.

Friend Roni Bladon, who launched the fundraiser, wrote: “In the wake of this unimaginable loss, Bebe’s parents need time to grieve, to heal, and to begin the long journey of coping with their sorrow. The last thing they should be worried about right now is the pressure of returning to work and managing financial responsibilities.

“We are reaching out to you, our community, to come together and support Bebe’s family. Your donations will provide them with the necessary time to mourn and heal without the added stress of financial burdens. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in allowing them the space and peace they need during this heart-wrenching period. All of the money will go to the family. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.”

A former colleague of Bebe’s mum at Going Places and Thomas Cook posted a message in Travel Gossip’s Facebook group asking others to support the Gofundme page ‘in way you can’. So far, more than £31,000 of a targeted £35,000 has been raised.

In a statement issued via the police, Bebe’s family said: “No words can describe the devastation that has hit our family as try to deal with the loss of our little girl Bebe.”

The other girls killed in the attack in Southport on Monday were Alice Dasilva Aguiar, aged nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven. Several others were injured, some critically. A 17-year-old has been arrested.
