Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has pulled dozens of sailings in 2024 and 2025 on Norwegian Spirit a month after axing 12 other cruises on the same ship.
The line has cancelled four cruises on the 2,032-capacity ship between 8 May and 17 June next year as well as sailings between 8 February and 23 November 2025, Cruise Hive reports.
A month ago, the line pulled several months of Alaska sailings for Norwegian Spirit, which is the oldest ship in the fleet.
A NCL spokesperson said: “Due to increased demand for charter business in Asia, we have cancelled Norwegian Spirit’s Alaska, Hawaii, South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand sailings from May 2024 to November 2025 and redeployed the ship to accommodate this strong demand.
“Norwegian Spirit will remain in Asia between scheduled charters to offer our guests the opportunity to explore some of the most sought-after destinations in the region.”
Norwegian Sun will be redeployed to the South Pacific and Australia and New Zealand in 2024/25 to give passengers different itineraries to choose from.
“All changes are being communicated to impacted guests accordingly,” the spokesperson added.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause to affected guests, and we appreciate the understanding of our loyal guests and travel partners as we navigate this fleet redeployment and optimisation.”
The four sailings next year would have brought the ship from Vancouver to Honolulu, then on to Tahiti before returning back to Honolulu and then back to Vancouver.
The second wave of cancellations includes 21 cruises, including 12, 13, 14, 15-night sailings in Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia and Hawaii.
Affected passengers will get a refund and 20% Future Cruise Credit to be used on selected sailings.
