Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled seven cruises this autumn to move Norwegian Getaway from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean.

It said the switch was in response to customers looking for warmer weather.

The cruise line will operate new Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries for both Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Epic from New Orleans and Port Canaveral in Florida, starting from October.

Norwegian Getaway will operate new seven-day round-trip cruises of the Western Caribbean from New Orleans from 20 October, while Norwegian Epic will operate new cruises of the Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral from 30 October.

The new cruises will open for sale next month.

“The Caribbean continues to be a hotspot for our guests all around the world, especially during the fall and winter seasons,” said President David J. Herrera.

“We are constantly looking to provide our guests with the best vacation possible especially from accessible homeports, and it was a no-brainer to bring two of our largest ships to sail more picturesque, tropical cruises from New Orleans and Port Canaveral.”

To accommodate the new sailings, NCL has cancelled seven cruises from Istanbul, Athens, Trieste and Rome on Norwegian Getaway from 29 September to and including 27 November 2024. The cancellations include a repositing 15-night transatlantic cruise from Rome to Miami on 27 November.

Booked guests will receive a 10% Future Cruise Credit as compensation for the inconvenience, along with a full refund.
