New agency Horizon Holidays & Travel Money is planning more than 50 branches in the next five to 10 years after officially opening its first outlet.
Dubbed a ‘high-tech one-stop shop travel agency concept’ by Craig Davidson, who is working as Retail Director on a consultancy basis with the agency, the flagship store is based within Morrisons supermarket at the St Andrews Retail Park in Birmingham.
The branch has been operating for several months but was officially opened last week by CEO Hamza Waris, who welcomed around 30 industry suppliers to view the store and to hear his future plans.
Hamza, who comes from a family of Midlands travel entrepreneurs, wants to expand his partnership with Morrisons into more than 50 outlets.
The agency is part of Advantage Managed Services and its partnership with Morrisons gives it access to marketing to the supermarket’s customer database and 100,000+ Morrisons staff.
Horizon is using technology such as virtual business cards on customers’ phones, and virtual reality goggles to enable clients to experience holidays in the agency’s VR booth.
Craig said: “Customers have full access to communicate with the Horizon team in any way they want from traditional appointments face-to-face in-branch, 24/7 contact centre as well as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok, or the fully bookable Horizon Holidays website.
“Whatever way customers want to communicate with us, we have a channel.”
Advantage Travel Partnership Business Development Manager Emily Shannon said: “Horizon Holidays is an exciting member with technology at the heart of their concept.
“They are looking at growing significantly in the next few years and I look forward to supporting them and watching them go from strength to strength.”
Birmingham Airport Aviation Director Tom Screen, who attended the launch, said: “Despite various past predictions that their days were numbered, we’re now in 2023 and demand for high-quality travel agents’ services is stronger than ever, especially from customers planning once-in-a-lifetime trips.
“We look forward to welcoming Horizons customers at BHX.”
A second Horizon Holidays & Travel Money branch is due to open soon within another Morrisons store.
