Royal Caribbean has added a new three-night inaugural sailing for new ship Utopia of the Seas, after announcing it will be ready to enter service earlier than planned.

Guests due to sail on the original inaugural, departing 22 July 2024, are being offered the chance to change their booking.

The new inaugural will follow the same route as the original one, leaving Port Canaveral for Nassau and Royal Caribbean’s private island CocoCay.

The original inaugural is a four-day cruise, with a day at sea.

Cruise Hive reports the cruise line has emailed passengers to say: “Utopia of the Seas is ahead of schedule and arriving at Port Canaveral earlier than originally planned. Although the July 22, 2024 inaugural season sailing that you booked will still take place, we are adding an extra voyage prior to this one.

“Now, the first inaugural season sailing will be a three-night weekend cruise on July 19, 2024 instead of the four-night sailing on July 22.”

Passengers who choose to switch will get the same stateroom as their original reservation, a one-day refund of their cruise fare and similar pro-rated refund for pre-paid add-on options. Royal Caribbean will also change flights and cover non-refundable change fees for passengers who have booked independent flight or hotel arrangements, up to $200 per person for domestic or $400 for international travel.

The offer is available up until Tuesday March 12.
