On the Beach placed an advertising van at a Chanel fashion show this week promoting its holidays to Turkey where you can buy fake designer bags at a fraction of the cost of the real thing.
The tour operator – whose head office is in Manchester – decided to strategically place the advert outside the show in the city’s Northern Quarter as celebrities including David and Victoria Beckham arrived.
There were a number of adverts featuring an image of a Chanel bag that drove around the city. One advert read: “This bag’s £5,093 cheaper in Turkey. (May as well get some sun while you’re there too)”.
On the Beach Chief Customer Officer Zoe Harris said: “Our head office is in Manchester so when we heard Chanel were coming to town we couldn’t help but get involved. Let’s be honest, what would you rather have, a Chanel bag or a couple of two-week, all-inclusive holidays to Turkey, New York or Dubai?
“I’m sure some of the celebrities and superstar models in attendance will have seen our ad and will be getting on our site to ‘bag’ themselves a bargain tomorrow,” she joked.
