A Scottish travel firm has gone bust after allegedly cancelling bookings at short notice and leaving customers out of pocket.
Harmony Coach Holidays called in liquidators Begbies Traynor on 28 March.
It had earlier cancelled dozens of trips and owed customers thousands of pounds, according to The Scottish Sun.
The Lanarkshire-based company, which operated coach tours from Scotland and the north of England to the UK and Ireland, was run by sole director John Docherty, a 55-year-old former coach driver.
A report in The Scottish Sun claim Police Scotland is understood to be investigating suspected fraudulent activities in relation to the coach company.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the said: “We have received a report of a suspected fraud and enquiries to establish any criminality are at an early stage.”
The Scottish Sun reported last month that the firm had cancelled dozens of bookings at the last minute, with some customers allegedly left several thousands of pounds out of pocket.
It is understood that Harmony, incorporated during the pandemic in June 2020, hired in coaches operated by other Scottish operators to run its tours.
Boss John Docherty had previously worked for several coach operators, including David Urquhart Travel, Caledonian Travel, and Edinburgh Coach Lines where he had been Operations Manager.
He is listed at Companies House as a Director of four other companies, two of which are dissolved and one is active.
