Two experimental pop-up stands will be piloted by P&O Cruises in shopping centres in the south-east of England to attract new-to-cruise customers.

The stands will feature a digital wall showcasing destinations the line visits, a P&O Cruises sensory lounge where visitors can learn more, as well as the chance to enter a competition to win a Caribbean cruise.

P&O Cruises said that while the pop-ups are aimed at driving awareness, bookings can be made on the stands, although these will operate on a similar model to onboard bookings where they can be assigned back to a customer’s travel agent. All material on the stand will also direct customers to book with an agent, it said.

The pop-up stands will be in Bluewater in Kent from 27 January to 9 February, and in Westfield Shepherds Bush in west London from 19 February to 3 March.,

Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “Our new marketing strategy, Holiday Like Never Before, aims to drive awareness and consideration with guests who may have thought that cruising wasn’t for them. Our pop-up stands in two of the UK’s busiest retail destinations during the peak holiday booking period will support agents by helping potential guests to understand the exceptional value and varied experiences offered by a P&O Cruises holiday.”
