A passenger was pulled from the sea after falling from Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas as it left Barcelona on a one-way transatlantic cruise.

The guest went overboard as the ship left Barcelona, causing it to turn around and start a search and rescue mission.

One passenger posted a video on X showing the ship’s spotlights scanning the water in the dark.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed that a guest had gone overboard on 29 October. “Thankfully, the guest was successfully recovered and was brought on board,” they said.

“Our care team is now offering assistance and support to them and their travelling party. Out of privacy for the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share.

Symphony of the Seas is continuing on its transatlantic sailing as planned.”

The ship is due to arrive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 12 November after a 14-night sailing.
