Manchester Airport has told passengers due to fly today to check with their airline before coming to the airport, following a power cut that severely affected services.

The airport said the power, which went out at around 01:30, has now been restored, but said it will take time to get systems up and running again.

Flights are affected from Terminals 1 and 2. The airport said Terminal 3 passengers should arrive at the airport as normal unless advised otherwise by their airline, but warned they could also be affected by delays.

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport said: “A significant number of flights today are likely to be cancelled and the advice is for passengers expecting to travel today not to come to the airport without having checked with their airline first.”
