An airline’s cabin crew has once again been forced to call police due to a mid-air fight on a flight to Tenerife.
EasyJet’s cabin crew contacted police after a scuffle broke out on the Luton to Tenerife flight yesterday (4 May).
The easyJet flight took off at 1.55pm, but as the plane approached the Canary island three passengers began fighting each other.
Canarian Weekly reported the fight was fuelled by alcohol.
The police were waiting to board the place when the Airbus A320 landed at Tenerife South Airport just after 6.30pm.
It has been reported the passengers allegedly involved were sent back to the UK on the next available flight.
An easyJet spokesperson said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2303 from London Luton to Tenerife on 4 May was met by police due to three passengers behaving disruptively onboard.
“easyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.
“Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.”
The spokesperson added: “The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.”
Last week, two flights to Tenerife were met by police following punch-ups on passenger planes.
Ryanair flight FR1249 from Manchester was given permission to land early and two passengers were detained.
Four days later, an easyJet flight from Liverpool reported a ‘mass brawl’ involving at least 12 passengers.
This week, Jet2 banned a 29-year-old passenger for life after he was dragged off a flight by Bulgarian police for being aggressive towards cabin crew.
