Princess Cruises has revealed the new date for Sun Princess’ maiden voyage after it was forced to cancel the ship’s revised inaugural sailing this weekend.
The 4,300-passenger Sun Princess will now set sail on 28 February from Rome (Civitavecchia) on a 10-night cruise to Barcelona.
Princess has now taken delivery of the ship but it has to stay at the shipyard while more work is carried out.
The cruise line said ‘additional technical work’ is being carried out ‘to ensure an outstanding vacation is delivered’.
Sun Princess had been due to set sail on 8 February, but the inaugural was pushed back to 18 February because work had not been completed.
On Tuesday (13 February) guests due to sail on 18 February were informed that sailing had also been cancelled.
