Private equity firm acquires ‘significant stake’ in AmaWaterways

US-based private equity firm L Catterton has acquired a ‘significant stake’ in river cruise line AmaWaterways.

The shareholding has been acquired from a consortium of investors led by investment firm Certares.

In a statement L Catterton said it will join AmaWaterways’ founders Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst, and the Murphy family and they ‘remain committed to supporting the company’s long-term growth and innovation in the river cruising industry and will continue to have meaningful ownership in the company’.

AmaWaterways CEO and co-founder Rudi Schreiner said: “This is an exciting new chapter for AmaWaterways.

“L Catterton brings unique insight into today’s customers, as well as exciting ideas on how we can work together to capitalise on a number of growth opportunities across our business. They share our passion for innovation and an unwavering commitment to creating unparalleled guest experiences.
