Regent Seven Seas Cruises has become the first cruise brand to partner with Global Hotel Alliance (GHA).

The new partnership means Regent Seven Seas’ passengers will become members of the customer loyalty programme GHA Discovery.

The programme features 800 hotels, resorts and palaces operated by 40 hotel brands in 100 countries and currently has 24 million customer members.

GHA Discovery members earn Discovery Dollars (D$) each time they book one of the GHA partner’s hotels. One Discovery Dollar equals one US dollar.

GHA Discovery members who reserve a Regent cruise will also be fast-tracked to GHA Discovery’s top-tier status – Titanium – which provides members with room upgrades as well as early and late check-ins at GHA hotels.

In terms of rewards, Titanium members earn 7% of their booking value, Platinum members earn 6% and Gold members earn 5%.

The Discovery Dollars will be paid directly into the GHA member’s account, which can be viewed by an app and can be spent at any GHA hotel for up to 12 months after the booking was made.

For every Regent booking made by a GHA Discovery member, customers will earn between D$750 and D$2,500, depending on the suite category booked.

To celebrate the new partnership, GHA Discovery members can triple their earnings up to D$7,500 until 30 September when they book a Regent cruise departing by 31 December.

At an event to announce the partnership in central London on Monday (17 July), GHA CEO Christopher Hartley highlighted how GHA Discovery rewarded customers who book via agents.

He said: “The GHA Discovery programme recognises that customers book through travel agents, but most other loyalty programmes do not.

“Customers who book through travel agents will be treated the same as those who book direct. We’re more inclusive.

“We believe that working with the trade is a great for us. We do not want to pull customers away from agents.”

President Andrea DeMarco said: “We view this landmark partnership as a win-win as it offers GHA members the opportunity to be rewarded for sailing with Regent, while also providing the many benefits of the GHA Discovery loyalty programme to current Regent guests.

“With the addition of our newest ship, Seven Seas Grandeur, later this year, this partnership comes at a perfect time as there are now more opportunities than ever before to create life-long memories aboard the world’s most luxurious fleet.”

Asked if other cruise lines were set to become GHA partners, Christopher said: “We’ve got others coming in but this partnership with Regent Seven Seas is going to be exclusive for the time being.”
