Royal Caribbean International has delayed next year’s inaugural sailing for its second Icon-class ship because it won’t be delivered on time.

Star of the Seas is being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and was scheduled to debut in August 2025 but its first sailing has been cancelled, according to reports.

Guests on the inaugural had been due to sail a seven-night ‘Eastern Caribbean and Perfect Day’ cruise from Port Canaveral on 17 August next year. The ship’s planned second cruise, also an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, has also been cancelled.

Royal Caribbean said Star of the Seas’ inaugural sailing will now be a Western Caribbean itinerary on 31 August 2025.

Cruise Hive reports Royal Caribbean told customers booked on the new ship’s first cruises: “While we’re working hard on completing our newest Icon Class ship, Star of the Seas, and after a review of the work that remains to be done, we’re unfortunately forced to delay the ship’s delivery date.”
