Royal Caribbean International has blamed an ‘unexpected inventory error’ for overselling yet another cruise.
The line informed some passengers on the 30 April departure on Oasis-class ship Allure of the Seas (pictured) about the error.
Royal Caribbean declined to say how many passengers were affected. The seven-day Western Caribbean sailing from Galveston, Texas, is underway.
Passengers who were contacted were asked to volunteer to give up their booking and choose between three options.
The options were to receive a 100% refund, $300 onboard credit and move to a future cruise on Voyager of the Seas on 15 May 2023, move to one of three future cruises on Allure of the Seas, or accept a 100% refund and a 100% future cruise credit for another cruise.
A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said: “An unexpected inventory error caused the 30 April 2023 cruise on Allure of the Seas to oversell. Any disruption to our guests’ plans is the last thing we want to ever happen, and we are working with each of them to ensure that they are still able to experience their memorable vacations.”
Last week, Royal Caribbean was forced to tell guests due to sail on Wonder of the Seas for the third time this season that cabins had been double booked.
The line again cited an inventory error for the error which is the same explanation it gave when it oversold Wonder of the Seas in March this year and in December 2022.
