Royal Caribbean International has oversold another upcoming cruise on Allure of the Seas.
The line told passengers in an email the 14 May departure was currently oversold and blamed ‘unexpected inventory error’ for the mistake.
The impacted sailing is a seven-night round-trip Western Caribbean sailing from Galveston, calling into Roatan, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya, both Mexico.
Cruisehive reports that passengers have been offered three compensation options to try and reduce the number of passengers on Allure of the Seas (pictured).
The first option is for guests to move to Voyager of the Seas for a similar five-night sailing departing on 3 June or 17 June.
Passengers who choose this option will also receive a 100% refund of their Allure of the Seas fare, plus $300 of non-refundable onboard credit for Voyager of the Seas.
Guests can also move their booking to a later Allure of the Seas’ sailing on 16 July or 30 July.
They can also choose to cancel their booking and receive a 100% refund, plus100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for any upcoming Royal Caribbean sailing.
The FCC is reportedly valid for any cruise departing before 15 May 2024, giving guests a full year to plan a new sailing.
According to Cruisehive, passengers have been told they can also ignore the ‘time-limited’ offers in an email.
Starting in October 2023, Royal Caribbean plans to target new-to-cruise customers with shorter sailings to private island Perfect Day at CocoCay on Allure of the Seas.
Last month, the cruise line informed some passengers the 30 April departure on the same Oasis-class vessel had been oversold.
It also blamed ‘an unexpected inventory error’, adding: “Any disruption to our guests’ plans is the last thing we want to ever happen, and we are working with each of them to ensure that they are still able to experience their memorable vacations.”
Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas – the world’s largest cruise ship – has been oversold three times this season.
