Ryanair is among airlines around the world warning of potential flight disruption due to an IT outage.
In a message on its website today, Ryanair urged passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before their flights ‘to avoid any disruptions’.
It also suggested they check the Ryanair app for latest updates on their flights, but said affected passengers will be notified.
“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by this third-party IT issue, which is outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating across the network,” it added.
It appears the IT issue might be causing problems for passengers checking in online since Ryanair has posted a message on the social media platform X saying they can check in at the airport if they haven’t already done so.
Airlines worldwide that have been forced to cancel some flights include US carriers Frontier Airlines, Allegiant and SunCountry, and Jetstar in Australia.
The cause of the outage has not yet been confirmed, but Microsoft issued a notice that it is aware of an issue with its CrowdStrike malware detector, which started late last night.
The outage has also affected banks, supermarket check-out systems, tech giants such as Google and broadcasters in Australia.
Separately, Microsoft said it was investigating an issue impacting various Microsoft 365 apps and services.
