Ryanair has launched seven new routes from three London airports, but at the same time it has announced the cancellation of some flights from the end of October.

New services for this winter are from Gatwick, Luton or Stansted to Belfast, Basel in Switzerland, Ouarzazate in Morocco, Tatry, Tirna in Albania, Treviso in Italy and Vigo in Spain.

The airline is also increasing frequencies on a number of routes including Alicante, Athens, Bratislava, Cologne and Faro.

To support the extra services, it will base two more Boeing 737s at Stansted for winter 2023/24.

However, Ryanair has also announced some cuts to its winter schedule due to delays in the delivery of new Boeing aircraft.

The airline had expected to receive 27 new aircraft between September and December, but production problems mean that it will now receive only 14 between October and December.

As a result, it is reducing the number of aircraft at several airports, including East Midlands.

It has announced it will have three fewer aircraft at Charleroi in Brussels, two fewer at Dublin and five fewer at four Italian airports including Bergamo, Naples and Pisa.

In addition to East Midlands, Ryanair will also have fewer aircraft at Porto and Cologne this winter.

Ryanair said cancellations will take effect from the end of October and affected passengers will be told by email ‘in the coming days’.

In a statement, it added: “Ryanair is working with Boeing to try to accelerate deliveries in the Jan to May 2024 period so that it can enter the Summer 2024 peak travel season with all 57 new Boeing aircraft deliveries as expected.

“As a result of these delivery delays, Ryanair will make a number of adjustments to its winter 2023 schedule this week.

“Ryanair apologises for these unavoidable reductions in its winter 2023 schedule. Ryanair has no spare aircraft this winter as scheduled maintenance is necessary across our full fleet of over 550 aircraft in order to have them all serviceable for its largest ever summer 2024 schedule.”
