A second flight from the UK was met by police on landing in Tenerife this week after crew reported a punch-up between passengers.

Ryanair flight FR1249 from Manchester was given priority to land, according to Canarian Weekly, when the pilot requested assistance from air traffic control during Tuesday’s early morning flight.

The Boeing 737-800, which was due to land at Tenerife South at 10:35, touched down almost 15 minutes early.

The island’s National Police boarded the plane before passengers were allowed off and detained two passengers, who were taken away for questioning.

It was the third incident of its kind involving a flight from the UK this month, according to the news outlet, and the second this week.

On Saturday, crew on an easyJet flight from Liverpool reported a ‘mass brawl’ involving at least 12 passengers.

Air traffic controllers reportedly gave flight EZY19WZ permission to land ahead of other planes and police met the aircraft on the ground.

At the time, easyJet told the Canarian Weekly in a statement: “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY3365 from Liverpool to Tenerife on 22 April was met by police due to a group of passengers behaving disruptively onboard.

“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.”

Earlier this month, Jet2 banned a 55-year-old passenger for life after he peed in the aircraft cabin and scuffled with other holidaymakers on a flight from Glasgow to Tenerife.
