Over 50s specialist Silver Travel Advisor is to open its first high street store, which will focus on tailor-made holidays, cruising and touring.
The move comes three years after it launched a retail homeworking division to sit alongside its established website and magazine.
The store, located in Fulwood in Sheffield, will open next month, ahead of the peak trading period, and the company is currently recruiting staff.
Silver Travel Advisor Managing Director Kerry Gallagher said: “We’ve had an incredible few years, growing our homeworking team to 18 which has resulted in double digit growth each year.
“A retail presence was the natural next step and a way to expand our network and grow our footprint. We chose Fulwood, Sheffield, as the location for our first store as it is a lovely village with a strong community feel which aligns perfectly with our target audience.”
Spread over four floors, the store has space to host consumer and trade initiatives. Commercial and partnerships director Penny Worthy said: “We want to be more than just a place for people to come and book a holiday, we want to be a part of the local community and provide best in class service.
“So, we’ll have space dedicated to hosting local events and gatherings, and working with our trusted travel partners we’ll hold joint events to showcase our portfolio and what we can offer customers.
“There will also be a training room and office space to bring our team together and have a base for meetings and supplier engagement.”
Kerry added: “We have ambitious growth plans, and the store brings along so many opportunities which complement our position as the leading voice of authority for the over 50s traveller.
“We’ve always been a bit of a different travel agent as we boast many other aspects such as our membership community, magazine, team of travel writers, annual awards and so on.
“It’s an exciting time for us and we’re looking forward to the next phase of growth. This is our first step onto the high street, but there’s potential for further expansion next year. The key for us is choosing locations which align with our strategy and audience.”
