Six Britons are among 20 people being treated in intensive care for injuries sustained on a Singapore Airlines flight from London.
A further nine people from the UK are also being treated in hospital for less serious injuries.
In total, 140 passengers and crew were injured after flight SQ321 to Singapore hit sudden turbulence over 10 hours into the journey.
One British passengers, Geoff Kitchen, died of a suspected heart attack.
The flight was forced to divert to Bangkok, where those with the most serious injuries are still being treated.
There were 22 cases of spine and spinal cord injuries, six skull and brain injuries and 13 muscular and soft tissue conditions, according to the BBC.
The Boeing 777-300, which had 211 passengers and 18 crew members onboard, hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean on Tuesday.
Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong has apologised, offering his ‘deepest apologies to everyone affected’ by the ‘sudden extreme turbulence’.
“We are very sorry for the traumatic experience that everyone on board SQ321 went through,” he added.
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has promised a ‘thorough investigation’ into the incident.
