Stansted Airport is advising passengers who missed flights and were left out of pocket due to yesterday’s partial power failure to get in touch.

It said it was unsure how many passengers were disrupted yesterday, adding that ‘the overwhelming majority’ did make their flights.

However, some passengers took to social media to complain that they had either missed their flights or left without their luggage.

The power failure occurred at around 4.15am on Monday and power wasn’t fully restored until 9.45am.

During the outage, a number of the airport’s systems were affected, including check in, baggage and security.

The airport said it was still investigating the cause of the outage.

It said that passengers who missed their flights as a result of the incident were being transferred by their airlines to the next available flights free of charge.

The spokesperson added: “If passengers have incurred other costs as a direct result of this incident, they should contact the airport via the feedback section of the website and the team will look at their case and refund/reimburse costs (parking/fast track/baggage etc) where appropriate.”
