Princess Cruises has announced that its next ship, Star Princess, will offer cruises to Alaska in 2026 after completing a Caribbean season.

The ship, whose arrival has been postponed by two months till 26 September 2025 will be a sister ship to the first Princess Sphere class ship, Sun Princess.

Its Alaska cruises will be bookable from 18 July 2024.

The announcement was made during a naming ceremony for the 4,300-passenger Sun Princess in Barcelona by actress and TV presenter Hannah Waddingham.

Attending the ceremony, Princess President John Padgett said Star Princess will ‘essentially be a twin to Sun Princess, ‘with a few tweaks’, adding: “It will be a slightly more refined Sun Princess.”

Star Princess
will debut in Barcelona and offer a seven-day Mediterranean cruise before travelling across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale to offer a series of Caribbean cruises, after which it will move to Alaska, where Princess already operates seven other ships.

UK and Europe Sales Director Hayley Moore said: “We have the opportunity to own Alaska because we have five wilderness lodges so we can do cruise and stay there.”

She added: “Our guests love to go to Alaska. You’d think it’s a once in a lifetime destination but we have strong repeat bookings, there is so much to see there.

“Also, we have doubled the number of guests booked on our Canada and New England cruises since 2023.”

Princess Cruises also announced a new Sanctuary Collection on both Sun Princess and Star Princess, which gives guests staying in Signature cabins exclusive access to the top deck adult-only retreat area, The Sanctuary, as well as access to private dining and the Princess premier package, which includes drinks, speciality dining and gratuities.

The Sanctuary Collection will be available from the autumn and Sanctuary Collection staterooms on Sun Princess and Star Princess go on sale today.

Guests who have already booked Sanctuary Collection staterooms on either ship will receive access to The Sanctuary at no extra cost.

Princess Cruises has also unveiled a new speciality restaurant, ‘Love by Britto’, named after the modern artist Romero Britto, onboard Sun Princess. It costs $149 for a fixed seven-course, love-inspired menu with Champagne and wine, and seats 68.
