Teesside Airport claims it has become the first UK airport to offer a direct lounge to aircraft service.

The regional airport is now allowing eligible SkyPriority KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passengers to board their flight through a dedicated gate within its VIP Rockliffe Lounge.

Lounge access costs £40 per adult and £15 per child.

Teesside said talks are continuing with other airlines on rolling out the lounge boarding service to more passengers this summer.

It was also the first regional airport to ditch the 100ml liquid rule last year, thanks to installing its scanners ahead of the June 2024 deadline.

Teesside Head of Operations Chloe Hanlon said: “Be it through new scanners or lounge boarding, it’s great to see Teesside leading the charge and clocking yet another UK first.

“KLM and the airport have a close bond and we’re very pleased to offer Amsterdam passengers another way to enjoy their experience.”
