The launch date for Villa Vie Residences’ three-and-a-half year cruise has been delayed again until the end of this month.

It’s understood on-going work to refit rudders on the 924-passenger ship Villa Vie Odyssey is the reason for the latest delay.

The ship had initially been due to set sail from Southampton on 15 May but the departure date and port were changed to 30 May from Belfast.

Departure dates have since been revised four more times in June and July, and the ship had been due to sail tomorrow (20 July).

Earlier this month, Villa Vie Residences CEO Mikael Petterson said: “The 20th of July is our very, very last date.”

According to Villa Vie Residences’ website, the ship will now depart on 30 July.

The ship, which was previously Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s Braemar, is currently docked in Belfast’s Titanic yard and has not sailed with passengers since March 2020.
