Two American tourists found dead in their luxury hotel room in Baja California Sur in Mexico are believed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

John Heathco, aged 41, and Abby Lutz, 22 were staying at the Hotel Rancho Pescadero.

The Attorney General’s office has confirmed the cause of death was ‘intoxication by substance to be determined’.

The pair had been dead for about 10 to 11 hours when they were found.

Police officers said there were no signs of violence on their bodies.

The Hotel Rancho Pescadero, a luxury Hyatt hotel, is in the seaside community of El Pescadero, which is located between Todos Santos and the resort of Los Cabos.

Last October, three US citizens were found dead at a rented apartment in Mexico, apparently victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
