Travel warning issued as hurricane expected to hit Mexico’s most popular resorts

The Foreign Office is warning hurricane conditions are possible along the entire east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from tomorrow.

Deadly Hurricane Berly is heading towards Cancun and other Mexican resorts after hurtling through the Caribbean, killing at least eight people.

The Foreign Office said: “A hurricane warning has been announced for the entire east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, including Cancun, Tulum, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen.

“A tropical storm warning is in place across the north and west coast of the Yucatan, from Campeche to Holbox.”

It added: “You should closely monitor local and international weather updates from the US National Hurricane Center and follow the advice of local authorities and your tour operator, including any evacuation orders.”
