TUI has posted an alert on its website reassuring customers that it is ‘actively monitoring weather conditions’ to make sure destinations are safe for holidaymakers and staff.

It acknowledged that it is currently seeing ‘unusual adverse weather’ in a small number of destinations across Europe, which is causing concern for some customers due to travel.

But it said: “Please be assured that we actively monitor weather conditions in all the destinations we visit to be sure it is safe for our customers and colleagues.

“Should there be any concerns about a destination then we will be in direct contact with customers with options for their holiday.

“This might be a change in travel date or the option to change their holiday to a different destination.

“Our priority is looking after our customers and ensuring they have a safe and happy holiday.”

The notice follows the mass evacuation of British tourists from hotels in Rhodes due to forest fires in August and flooding on the Greek island of Skiathos last month.
