TUI claims industry first with launch of sign language service

TUI has become the first UK tour operator to give customers the option to have their telephone conversations with them interpreted into British Sign Language.

Deaf customers can sign up for free to SignLive and call via the online directory to have their conversations with TUI accessibility teams interpreted in real time.

TUI Director of Customer Experience Sue Bradley said: “Customers can speak to our contact centre team about new or existing bookings all by signing up with Sign Live for free for support with hotel information, navigating airports or booking accessible transfer in resort.”

Meanwhile, British Airways has announced a three-year partnership with Alzheimer’s Society to provide bespoke customer service dementia training for customer-facing staff.

Alzheimer’s Society has also become a beneficiary of the BA Better World Community Fund, which raises funds for communities across the airline’s network. Since its launch in April 2022, the has raised more than £3.4 million and now supports more than 170 charities across the UK.
