TUI has opened a new store in The Springs retail complex in Leeds.

Located just off the M1 at Junction 46, the shop opened on Friday (24 May) with TUI’s mascot, Captain T on hand to greet customers. The store features customer booths, a bureau exchange counter and welcome desk.

There are eight members of staff – six have moved from other TUI retail stores and two are new recruits.

TUI now has five stores in the Leeds area, and earlier this month the company opened new branches in Bishop Auckland in County Durham and in Lowestoft in Suffolk.

TUI The Springs Store Manager Shelly Rushton said: “We were all so excited to see the queue of customers outside the doors and we couldn’t wait to welcome in the first customers come through when we officially opened. We’ve loved meeting everyone over the long weekend, and hearing how excited they are about the new store opening and having our experts on hand to help them book their holiday.

“We’ve noticed a lot of people are asking about last-minute holidays, in particularly wanting some great deals for over the next few weeks. There has also been lots of enquiries about good value summer package holidays for next year. It’s been really encouraging to share our expertise and help customers learn about all these amazing places and travel opportunities we offer.”

TUI currently has 328 branches around the UK.

Earlier this month, TUI Group CEO Sebastian Ebel said the company was expanding its UK high-street presence. Sebastian said more younger people are ‘going back to retail’ when it comes to booking holidays.
