TUI has launched its new accommodation-only platform to the UK and Ireland market – initially for consumers only.

The operator said it plans to make the platform available for agents, although it did not say when.

The platform is part of TUI’s attempt to broaden its offer beyond traditional package holidays and attract new clients, with new products including dynamic packaging, ancillaries, car hire and events, which can be booked through TUI’s Musement division.

The new product range signifies TUI’s shift from a traditional holiday operation to a global leisure company, UK & Ireland Managing Director Andrew Flintham said.

The UK and Ireland-specific platform went live with more than 12,000 hotels in 54 destinations at the end of last month.

More hotels will be added over the next few weeks and TUI plans to increase the number of properties on the platform to 50,000 by the end of the year.

Andrew said the service is currently consumer-only, but said the ability to allow agents to book through the site was ‘on our roadmap’, although no timescale has been given.

TUI is also planning a loyalty scheme for customers who book components in its portfolio.

“We are trying to build an ecosystem of products for customers,” Andrew said.

TUI’s accommodation-only platform launched earlier this year in Sweden, then elsewhere in the Nordic region.
