The Tunisian National Tourist Office is pinning hopes on easyJet continuing its new routes to Djerba for the summer 2025 season.
EasyJet launched winter flights to the Tunisian island this month, with services from London Luton operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 5 November.
Flights from Manchester started on Monday (11 November), operating on Mondays and Fridays.
Tunisian National Tourist Office Director General Helmi Hassine said at World Travel Market London: “We’ve heard that easyJet will continue the flights for the summer season and will confirm shortly after WTM. There is a big demand.”
Tunisia is on target to welcome 300,000 UK tourists this year, with 278,000 Brits visiting to 31 October 2024. UK visitor numbers are up 60% on last year, and up 44% on pre-pandemic figures. Tunisia’s best performing year in terms of British visitors was in 2014, with 425,000 visiting.
Helmi said Brits are starting to look for more experiences than simply a beach holiday and he said early bookings for the destination have increased by around 20-25%.
“We are very optimistic because, in other markets, visitors buy excursions to discover more than the beach. Every family from the UK or every small group can have a tailored experience, such as hiking, biking or cultural experiences.”
EasyJet holidays has added packages to Djerba using the new easyJet flights, with seven nights at the all-inclusive at the five-star Ulysse Djerba Thalasso & Spa costs £417 per person from Manchester on 25 November.
