The Turkish Tourism Board today announced record-breaking growth in tourism numbers from the UK.

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism recorded a total of 3.8m UK visitors in 2023, up 12.8%.

“This impressive growth highlights Türkiye’s standing as the top-choice destination for UK travellers,” said the tourism board in a statement.

“Türkiye is a country where rich culture and history meet beautiful landscapes, drawing tourists from around the world. We aim to build on this growth in 2024.”

In 2023, Turkey (which rebranded itself as Turkiye last year) welcomed a total of 56.7 million international visitors, a 10% year-on-year increase.

Tourism income rose 17% to £42.4 billion, with an average per night visitor spend of £78.

ABTA held its annual Travel Convention in Bodrum in Turkey last year. It has yet to announce where it will hold its 2024 conference.
