Polar expedition cruise specialist Polar Routes has revealed that July was the best ever in the company’s seven-year history, while TUI River Cruises has reported that Wednesday was its best ever day of sales.
Polar Routes saw a 110% rise in sales in July versus the same month last year, while average booking values were up 11%.
Director Martin Johnson said: “July and August are usually quiet months for interest in and bookings to the polar regions, but the autumnal weather in wash-out July has turned out to be a record-breaker for us.”
TUI River Cruises saw a 170% increase in year on year bookings on Wednesday, 2 August, with a ‘significant uplift’ across all four season currently on sale.
It saw the most growth in bookings for 2024, with its latest addition, Legends of the Nile, the most popular cruise.
The Magical Danube and Rhine Explorer were the next most popular itineraries, said TUI.
TUI River Cruises MD Chris Hackney added: “We’re really proud to see such strong demand for TUI River Cruises. We were confident before we launched that our customers would love our latest offering in Egypt, but it’s fantastic to see that the appetite for Nile cruises is most definitely there, and as a result we’re seeing that halo effect across our broader product range.”
