Caterers providing food and drink to a number of airlines including easyJet and TUI flights from London’s Gatwick airport are planning a series of strikes later this month.

Union Unite said the planned walkouts are due to a pay dispute with the Emirates Group-owned Dnata in-flight catering company.

It said Dnata’s removal of a shift allowance last April has led to staff receiving £1,500 to £2,000 less pay.

Dnata claims Unite agreed to the removal of the allowance as part of a deal that saw the introduction of a night shift premium.

Around 100 workers, including HGV drivers and warehouse staff, will strike from Friday 26 April to Monday 29 April, from Friday 3 May to Monday 6 May, and again from Friday 10 May to Monday 13 May.

Strike action will intensify if the dispute is not resolved, said Unite.
