Vietnam will allow tourists from the UK to visit for up to 45 days without a visa from this summer.
Specialist operator InsideAsia welcomed the news, saying it will allow its customers to plan ‘longer, more meaningful cultural adventures’ in Vietnam.
The Vietnam Government has agreed that the visa-free period for Brits will be extended from 15 days to 45 days from 15 August.
The Foreign Office has yet to update its travel advice for Vietnam to reflect the change.
But InsideAsia Senior Southeast Asia Product Executive Charlotte Bower said: “Although we can give people a taster in two weeks, a longer trip will allow people to get deeper into what makes Vietnam so good.
“Although we tailor trips to suit timeframes, the visa waiver extension will allow for a better quality of cultural adventure to get deep into rural Vietnam, life on the Mekong, experience the cities and some time on the beach too.”
For clients who want to travel for longer than 45 days, Vietnam has also announced that e-visas will be increased to allow multiple entry to Vietnam for 90 days, up from 30.
InsideAsia’s new UK Trade Manager Gabo Quiros said: “This is great news and will enable us to make Vietnam travel easier and even more fulfilling for our trade partners and their customers.”
Passport holders from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Finland, Denmark, Japan and South Korea will also be allowed visa-free entry to Vietnam for 45 days instead of 15.
