Virgin Voyages has seen a 31% increase in UK travellers booking Caribbean cruises, 70% of whom are traveling between December 2023 and March 2024. Also, 40% of guests on its repositioning cruises are from the UK.
Virgin Voyages’ booking trend follows that of the CLIA 2022 Europe Market Report which showed that since 2021 the number of passengers from the UK and Ireland cruising in the Caribbean more than doubled from 4.9% in 2021 to 10.6% in 2022.
Virgin Voyages Vice President of UK and International Sales Shane Riley said: “We’re thrilled that cruising confidence is back and that British sailors are swapping winter blues for the Caribbean blues. What’s more, we’ve seen that 40% of sailors on our incredible repositioning voyages are Brits.
“In the last year alone, our repeat sailor rates have tripled – and we know that these loyal travellers want more, so we’ve listened. We recently announced more than two dozen new itineraries including winter sailings and repositioning voyages that we’ve dubbed our Seachange Series that give adventurous travellers more opportunities to explore the world at large.”
As part of its Black Friday deals Virgin Voyages is offering 30% off until 30 November. Travellers will also receive US$600 bar credits for seven nights or more stay, US$300 for four to six nights, or US$125 for a three-night sailing.
