Visit Greater Palm Springs will tour the UK and Ireland with a branded airstream trailer to educate agents and consumers about the US holiday destination next month.
Converted into a quintessential Palm Springs mid-century modern living space, the trailer will be kitted out with VR headsets to allow visitors to virtually explore the destination, including the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, off-road jeep tours and the Joshua Tree national park.
The roadshow will take place from 1-17 September, kicking off at Hampton Court Palace before travelling to Dublin for 7 September, Edinburgh for 11 September, Manchester for 13 September and finishing at London’s White City on 16 and 17 September.
Visit Greater Palm Springs has partnered with a key tour operator in each city: London – Audley Travel; Dublin – American Holidays; Edinburgh – Barrhead Travel; and Manchester – Gold Medal.
Agents are invited to visit and take part in short training sessions which will be running throughout the day.
Visit Greater Palm Springs CEO and President Scott White said: “Past visitors to our destination tell us they wish they had stayed longer, so we hope this tour will encourage people to learn more about the many activities, events and experiences that are available in Greater Palm Springs.
“This year we’re investing more than we ever have in the UK/Irish markets, and with this activation we really wanted to bring to life what makes Greater Palm Springs iconic to the UK and Ireland and engage with the trade and holidaymakers to showcase our beautiful destination.
“This is the beginning of a long-term plan to invest in the UK and Ireland and we can’t wait to see what else we can do to grow demand over the next five to ten years with the objective of securing direct flights from the UK/Ireland to Palm Springs International Airport.”
