South Shields agency Westoe Travel is joining residents and businesses in the town to remember apprentice Chloe Rutherford and boyfriend Liam Curry, who died in the Manchester Arena bombing seven years ago today.
Chloe had recently begun her career in travel as an apprentice at Westoe Travel when she died in the attack, on 22 May 2017, along with Liam. The couple had been at the arena to attend an Ariana Grande concert.
Their families established the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust to raise money to support young people achieve their ambitions in sport and performance and, so far, more than 700 young people have received grants.
People in South Shields are wearing pink and blue to remember Chloe and Liam and schools and businesses in the area are holding fundraising events this week to support The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.
Westoe Travel is holding a raffle to win afternoon tea on a steam train.
Westoe Travel Director Graeme Brett said: “It was a horrendous time but the love and support we got from the travel industry will never be forgotten. With the support of the travel industry and the residents of South Shields, we raised over £33,000 for the families.
“We will be forever grateful to everyone in the travel industry, many who we had never met before.”
