Jet2holidays has increased its ATOL licence in the latest renewal round, up from 5.8 million passengers to 6.7m for the year.

The increase means Jet2, which became the UK’s largest operator in February, remains at the top spot.

TUI UK is now licensed to carry 5.9m passengers, up from 5.3m in February, while easyJet Holidays is now licensed to carry 2.2m passengers, up from 1.3m in February.

In total, 1,607 businesses are currently licensed under the ATOL scheme, according to new figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Of the 1,046 ATOL licences that expired on 30 September, 958 have been renewed, with a further 26 still in the application process or yet to meet licence conditions.
