ABTA’s response to the Package Travel Regulations

The Department for Business and Trade is working on a review of the Package Travel Regulations with a view to encourage economic growth and has sought input from the industry. ABTA has responded to the consultation, which closed on 30 June 2025, to share members’ views.
Luke Petherbridge ABTA Director of Public Affairs said: “Earlier this week ABTA submitted its members’ views to the Department for Business and Trade in response to its consultation on a review of the Package Travel Regulations.
This followed a request from ABTA for members to submit their views, concerns and opinions on how to move forward and I would like to thank members for their responses which have been aggregated and properly reflected in our response to the DBT.
In our response we have called for a balanced approach between consumer protection and business flexibility and reflected members views on a range of areas which are under review.
We will also be writing to Justin Madders, the minister for Employment Rights, Competition and Markets to encourage the Government to consider wider issues beyond the scope of this consultation, which are in line with its growth agenda and commitment to reducing regulatory burdens on businesses.”
